The
freeware
email
program
Pegasus
Mail,
when
invoked
without
arguments,
runs
as
the
(Pegasus)
default
user.
If
Pegasus
is
the
default
program
for
the
mailto:
protocol
(used,
e.g.,
when
you
click
on
an
email
address
in
a
WWW
browser)
then
Pegasus
will
begin
composing
an
email
message
as
the
default
user.
This
is
painful
for
multiple
users
sharing
a
computer.
PegUser
is
a
work-around
for
this
problem.
It
invokes
Pegasus
with
the
user
ID
given
in
the
%USERNAME
environment
variable
provided
no
overiding
-I
or
-ID
option
was
specified.
The
problem
can
also
be
solved
via
a
DOS
batch
file,
but
I
was
too
scared
of
DOS
to
try
detecting
options
in
a
batch
file,
and
could
not
stomach
ugly
DOS
windows
cluttering
up
the
environment
:-).
- If
you
downloaded
PegUser
as
a
.zip
file,
use
a
tool
like
Unzip
to
extract
the
.exe
fom
the
.zip
file
- Rename
your
Pegasus
program
by
prefixing
it
with
'real-'
e.g.:
ren
C:\PMAIL\winpm-32.exe
C:\PMAIL\real-winpm-32.exe - Move
the
extracted
file
peguser.exe
to
your
Pegasus
directory
and
rename
as
your
Pegasus
program,
e.g.:
move
peguser.exe
C:\PMAIL\winpm-32.exe - It's
ready
to
run!
- To
de-install,
just
undo
the
steps
above.
That
is,
delete
the
disguised
peguser.exe
(it's
the
22 kbyte
.exe!)
and
restore
the
Pegasus
program
(it's
the
huge
.exe!)
by
removing
the
'real-'
prefix.
